Ever since the use of internet and smartphone has increased, online fraud and scam cases have also increased rapidly. New steps are being taken by the government to rein in the online fraud. Meanwhile, the Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), who works under the Union Home Ministry, has alerted the fraud from online booking on behalf of the Cyber Crime Coordination Center (i4C). The i4C asked to be alert with scams and frauds in which religious pilgrims and tourists are being targeted.
Let us tell you that as the government is taking strict steps against the online fraud, on the other hand cyber criminals are looking for new ways to cheat people. Now online booking has become a new source of fraud. According to the alert, scammers are being cheated through paid advertisements on search engines like fake websites, misleading social media pages, Facebook posts and Google.
Scams attracting attractive offers
According to the Cyber Crime Coordination Center of India, these scams are professional looks, but fake websites, social media profiles and WhatsApp accounts are made attractive offers to customers so that customers are motivated to book online after seeing their benefits. Scammers offer the following services on in fake websites.
- Helicopter booking for Kedarnath, Char Dham
- Guest house and hotel booking for pilgrims
- Online cab/taxi service booking
- Holiday package and religious trips
People often feel cheated after paying through these portals without doubting attractive offers. After booking, when they do not receive any service and when contacting the given number, he gets unreachable.
I4C advised to take precautions
- Before making any payment, definitely chak the authenticity of the website.
- Do not click on any Anon link on Google, Facebook or WhatsApp.
- Booking should be done only through official government portals or reliable travel agencies.
- If you suspect a website, then immediately complain of such websites on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal: www.cybercrime.gov.in.
- In the case of any fraud, call 1930 and file a complaint.

- The official website of Somnath Trust is https://somnath.org and guest house booking can be done through it.
Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center is taking this step
- The scam signals are constantly being shared with Google, WhatsApp, Facebook to detect the active form.
- Cyber crime hotspots are being identified and states/union territories are being sensitive.
- Steps are being taken to disable fake websites and such social media accounts so that the citizens are safe.
- The investigation and reporting facility of suspects has been developed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, so that the citizens do not face any problem in filing a complaint.
