
Government’s strict action
The government continues strict against cyber fraud. By February this year, more than 7.8 lakh SIM cards, more than 3 thousand Skype ID and more than 83 thousand WhatsApp account were blocked. In the Lok Sabha, the government has given information about the strictness against digital fraud. Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has given this information while responding to a written question asked in the Lok Sabha.
7.81 lakh SIM blocks
The Union Minister said that till February 28, the agency has worked to block more than 7.81 lakh SIM cards associated with digital fraud. Not only this, the government has also worked to block 2,08,469 IMEI number. These mobile handsets were reported by the police and other investigating agency. Explain IMEI number is a unique number, which is different for every mobile device. These mobile handsets were used for cybercrime.
Strict action on digital arrest
Apart from this, the subsidiary agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs has done the work of blocking 3,962 Skype IDs by identifying and blocking. Also, the agency has also blocked the 83,668 WhatsApp account. These digital video calling apps were used for digital arrest.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs said that the I4C was launched by the Modi government in 2021. It is a quick response agency that immediately takes action in financial fraud cases. Of the 13.36 lakh complaints reported so far, Rs 4,389 crore of people has been saved. Apart from this, the government has also started the National Helpline Number 1930 for cyber fraud.
Sanchar saathi portal
Apart from this, people can also report spam calls, fake communication etc. through Sanchar Saathi portal. The communication partner portal of the Department of Telecommunications was launched a few years ago. Recently its app has also been launched, which users can download from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
