Big action on fake calls
Dot has once again put a big action and put a brake on fake calls and messages. Scammers are in tension due to frequent action by the Department of Telecommunications. Last year, the government and telecom regulator asked telecom companies to bring AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence based system to stop fake calls coming from abroad. For this, TRAI also released guidelines. The agency with more than 20 agents and fake calls has been blacklisted in collaboration with the telecom operators and the Department of Telecommunications.
Heavy reduction in fake calls
The Department of Telecommunications said in its statement that the calls coming from foreign numbers have seen a huge shortage. Every day the number of fake calls coming in crores of crores has come down to about 4 lakhs. The Spoof Call Prevention System made in India was implemented to identify fake international calls in collaboration with the government and telecom companies. Due to this, up to 90 percent of fake international calls coming in the country have been done, the figure of which is 1.34 crores in just 24 hours.
Identification of fake international numbers
Scammers used to show fake call users from the local number abroad. Due to this system, such calls were identified and blocked and users started seeing international numbers. Cyber criminals use internet based tools to trap users in their nets. These fake international calls are displays on the mobile screen of users like a local number.
The Department of Telecommunications ordered the telecom operators to show the call users coming from abroad as an international number. DOT reported that the AI based tool of telecom operators Airtel and BSNL has done more than 20 fake aggregators and career by blacklisting. Apart from this, fake calls have also been reported through the Department of Communication Partner and App of the Department of Telecommunications.
