Instagram, Facebook
Facebook, Instagram users may now have to pay a monthly charge to use social media platforms. The new policy of Meta has increased the tension of crores of users. According to the report, META has decided to charge a monthly fee for European Union users. For this, users will be charged from $ 14, or about Rs 1,190 every month to use Facebook and Instagram. However, this charge will be taken from users who do not want to see ads on both these platforms of meta.
No charge will be charged for the use of Facebook and Instagram for common users. According to the report last week, Meta can also offer combo offers for Facebook and Instagram, for which users will have to spend $ 17, or about Rs 1,445 every month. However, it will only work on the desktop.
Because of this, the decision was taken
According to the report revealed, META has taken this decision due to the strictness made by the European Union against tech companies. Recently, the European Union has ordered social media platforms not to show advertisements based on online history and activity. In the free version, users are shown advertisements, through which companies like Meta, Google earn. These companies have earned billions of rupees through this model for the last decade.
However, Facebook has said that the consent will be obtained from the users before they are shown advertisements. Without consensus, the company will not push the preford ad to any user. The US government has also questioned social media companies to target users according to their activity. The European union has said to impose heavy fines on companies to do so.
What is SNA model?
After the new policy of Advertisement, the tech company will have to sell subscriptions to earn revenue from its users. However, this is not the first time social media companies have spoken about paid models. Earlier in 2023, a proposal of this was also brought. Now it depends entirely on the European Union to motivate the meta to bring the subscription no add (SNA) model.
