Indian equity markets are poised for a weak start, with technical indicators signalling continued downside pressure.

Gift Nifty points to a gap-down opening, while key indices remain below crucial resistance levels, indicating a bearish bias. Immediate support for Nifty is seen near 22,900, and a break below could accelerate declines towards 22,200. Elevated India VIX around 22 reflects heightened volatility, increasing the likelihood of sharp intraday swings.

Persistent FII outflows and rupee weakness are reinforcing the negative trend. However, oversold conditions on short-term charts may trigger intermittent pullbacks. Overall, the market remains range-bound with a downside tilt unless key resistance levels are decisively breached.

Top five technical triggers this week

1 Critical support zones (make-or-break levels)

Nifty 50: 22,900 → break may trigger fall to 22,200

Sensex: 73,000–72,800

Nifty Bank: 53,300 → below this, 52,000 comes into play

*These are immediate downside triggers; markets are fragile here.

2 Stronger medium-term support (bottom formation zones)

Nifty: 22,200–22,000

Nifty Bank: 52,200–52,000

Sensex: 72,800–72,250

*Watch for price stability / reversal signals here — potential bottoming zones.

3 Key resistance ceilings (trend reversal triggers)

Nifty: 24,000

Sensex: 77,000–77,500

Midcap 150: 21,000

*A sustained breakout above these levels can shift sentiment back to bullish.

4 Range-bound market structure (sideways bias)

Likely ranges forming:

Nifty: 22,900–24,000

Sensex: 73,000–77,000

*Indicates consolidation phase unless breakout/breakdown happens.

5 Sector & sentiment divergence

Weakness: Oil & Gas (-3.3%)

Strength: Telecom (+2%)

Key trigger: HDFC Bank drag on indices

*Stock-specific pressure (especially banking) is driving index volatility.
